The Shadows of DeathIt was a dark night. So dark, in fact, it was as if a large black blanket had been thrown over the land. A profound silence had swept acrossed it, leaving an eerie quietness that wasn't often seen in Atrovea. The only light was the half circle of the moon, glowing faintly in the starless sky. A slight breeze caressed the trees, limbs quivering from the hard battle they had finally won against winter. Dream Chaser - Prologue MuchRayne never gave much thought to dreams. You either had them or you didn't, and in some peoples case, such as Rayne's, you had nightmares instead. For her sister, who had the same problem as the young girl, it was always embarrassing herself in front of her crush. Rayne's was slightly different, in an unusual way. 'Dream Chaser' and 'Risanita' were only a few of the names Ranye had learned about earlier in her childhood. Her dreams consisted, always, of one centered thing; a woman who went by the name of Notte. She knew Notte was the Italian name for 'Night', but that wasn't the odd part. Before there was the world, nothing sprawled on for eternity. Nothing existed, not light or shadow, water or fire, sun or moon. Not even the great flow of time existed in this chapter of the universe.   
But then, a miracle occurred.   
Something new was born; it was so pure and good that it drove back the great cloak of nothing. Light pierced through and struck this thing that was born, revealing what it was to no one.
